You're Qualified. Here's the real problem...
Jan 13, 2024"I send out my resume and hear nothing back." "I know I'd nail an interview...if only I could get one." "I feel stuck. I'm hearing crickets no matter how many applications I send."
In 8 years of resume writing, almost every single person I've helped has had this one thing in common: They were 100% qualified but getting nowhere in their job search.
SO many of those clients felt insecure about their skills, education level or work experience. Surely their lack of qualifications was the reason they weren't landing a job.
If you send a resume and you're qualified, you get an interview. Right?
Wrong. So, so wrong. My clients were qualified to get just about every interview before they ever reached out to me for help. You know how I know? I learned about their strengths, reviewed their existing resume, asked where they were trying to go and moved through my process to give them a brand new resume.
Here's an example of what happened next...
Trisha needed a very important internship to complete her degree. She was getting nowhere and was asking for advice on a Facebook forum. Did I magically give Trisha new skills and work experience? No, I only write non-fiction.
I could immediately see that some re-arranging, additional details about her coursework, some research on the internships she wanted, and a new template was all she needed to stand out as qualified and poised to succeed.
Five interviews, friends. Five. She is incredibly impressive. It was always within her. The old resume was standing in her way.
Your resume is the bridge between you and that opportunity you really want. Sure, your career journey has to be appealing to an employer. You must be qualified. You already know that. However, the gap between you and the job you want is insurmountable UNTIL you have a resume that makes them actually want to interview you. A resume that makes an impression in seconds and puts you at the top of the pile.
If you have been dealing with rejection in your job search, please don't take it personally. It's not you. You would be an INCREDIBLE asset to every organization where you apply. The problem is your resume. The good news is, resumes are easy to fix with the right tools and guidance. A whole lot easier than getting a new degree or just staying in a job that makes you miserable.
I have countless stories like Trisha's. I can't even express the joy they bring me. They are fueling me toward a business model that will allow me to help a unlimited number of people. I'm a mom of 3 little ones and full time PR Strategist in my day job. I can only take so many clients each week (And, I stopped taking new clients a couple weeks ago).
This is why I took my process and templates and packaged them into a turnkey solution you can utilize from the comfort of your living room any day of the week. It's all in my digital course, Resume Roadmap.
